All Things For Good - Thomas Watson

There often exists for us as Christians a gap between what we say we believe and what we actually believe. That gap is displayed in how we live and how we talk.

Romans 8:28 is a very familiar verse "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Because it is scripture, we know that it is true and so we know we are supposed to believe it. But do our actions and our words indicate this reality?

Thomas Watson, a Puritan, wrote All Things For Good in 1663, a book dedicated to helping us understand the reality of this verse. His words, and the work of the Holy Spirit, are helping me to move from simply acknowledging this truth to truly living it.

Digging Deeper

Greetings fellow travelers, fellow pilgrims. I have created this blog as a place where those who are interested, intrigued, and even moved by the older writings in Christian history can discuss what we are reading and how it has moved us.

I do not suppose to be an authority on the subject. Far from it. In fact, that is why I want to join with others as we read and ponder these works to discuss together. Let us encourage one another to dig a little deeper in our Christian faith.

"...brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8.
